Performance test method of PDC composite sheet

In order to ensure the qualified and stable quality of PDC composite sheets, PDC manufacturers should not only strictly implement the quality inspection of raw materials and control the production process, but also carry out laboratory simulation tests on PDC finished products. This kind of performance test is used to verify the finished quality of PDC products. Common laboratory testing and test methods are as follows:

       Wear ratio test: The wear ratio represents the weight of the standard grinding wheel cut by the PDC wear amount per unit weight. The larger the wear ratio, the stronger the wear resistance of PDC. The wear ratio of PDC is calculated mainly by comparing the weight changes of PDC and standard grinding wheel before and after grinding.

       Impact resistance test: The impact resistance test is also called the drop weight test, that is, the cutting edge of a heavy PDC composite sheet that falls vertically from a given height is used for standard impact, and the PDC is placed and fixed at a certain angle (15°-25°). The weight and height of the falling object indicate the amount of impact energy that the composite sheet will receive.

       Thermal stability test: mainly to test the high temperature resistance of PDC. The test method is to put the PDC in a high temperature environment of 700℃ - 750℃ for 10-15 minutes, take it out and cool it naturally, check the change of the diamond layer, and compare the resistance before and after the test. Changes in abrasion and impact resistance indicators;

       Turning granite: PDC turns homogeneous granite at a fixed linear speed and feed. During this process, PDC is not cooled in any way. Observe the working time of PDC under high temperature conditions and calculate the volume ratio of PDC and granite lost. .

       C Ultrasonic Scan: Detects delamination and void defects in PCD layers using ultrasonic waves ranging from 0.2 to 800 MHz. Ultrasound can detect small defects and estimate their location and size. C-ultrasound can display the characteristic information results of the measured position and size on a plane, and the imaging plane is parallel to the scanning pattern of the probe. This test method can help to observe composite sheet defects that cannot be detected by visual imaging or microscopic imaging.

       Oilfield drilling test: To verify the quality of PDC, it is necessary to combine the drilling site conditions, and verify the performance indicators of PDC by comparing the drilling footage, drilling speed and other indicators.
